Container house – a practical home

These days, life can mean a lot more than shelter, food, and clothing. Humans have evolved a great deal over the past 50 years and exponential change continues. The intergenerational differences will be more important than they are now. Random outbreaks of non-conformism mean that some people no longer feel represented by the masses and do not want to be associated with large institutions. This non-conformism has a living element: people live in increasingly diverse houses that best meet their needs. It’s a great idea to live in a container house.

Some people buy large houses made of concrete, steel, and glass to reinforce their social positions and others choose something else. Either way, it’s something that suits their needs.

Old freight containers now serve as part of a house or even as a whole container house for some people.

While container houses are certainly an option, nobody should rush into making a decision. Let’s take a look at some wonderful structures before you decide if living in a container house would be for you.

One of the most interesting projects so far is this wonderful container house for guests from a recycling shipping container. Due to the shape and nature of the container, there is not a wide range of decoration options. People always take this as a challenge and in this case the result turned out to be excellent. The container was painted blue, two sections cut out and replaced with windows and large sliding doors.

Free-standing or as an extension possible

The container house has a small terrace and a partial roof over it, which protects against the rain splashing directly into the door. The interior has wood paneling on the walls that gives a feeling of warmth and comfort.

The combination of colors and materials make this structure a nice place to hang out and enjoy the surrounding landscape. This unique container house was designed by Poteet Architects who have carried out a number of projects with shipping containers.

This creation defies everything you thought about houses. This beauty is made from shipping containers. New Jersey architect Adam Kalkin designed and built his own house out of recycled shipping containers. Among the many reasons to do so is durability, but also price: a used storage container costs under $ 1,000.

The container house is huge and has many different levels. You could say that this is a “house within a house” because inside the massive building there are many smaller individual components that look like rooms in a traditional house. Indeed, the inside and outside merge through the massive sliding glass doors and the house-like structures inside.

One can easily get confused with this container house. It is certainly not a traditional house, but what is it anyway? It has a bedroom, bathroom, living room and kitchen so it meets our modern needs. But what can you say about it when it comes to aesthetics? Then I could definitely answer: “It’s unique!”

Another impressive project comes from the Brazilian architect Marcio Kogan. This maritime container house was born from the idea of using industrial elements that can be assembled easily and in a very short time. In order to be able to deal with the special restrictions imposed by the given size, the containers were imposed and stacked on top of each other.

As soon as the height limitation was resolved, the architects focused on the width. To solve this problem, you created a room that was as high as two containers but also wider. In this room you were able to arrange a large living area that could extend outside thanks to a clever retractable system of doors.
