Handicrafts with natural materials Christmas: make a garland with pine cones
Christmas crafts with natural materials is the perfect way to bring the festive atmosphere into your own four walls. You can collect the materials together with your children or with your spouse and start doing handicrafts at the beginning of December. The first DIY idea we offer is to make a garland with pine cones and green branches. You will need a hot glue gun, floral wire, scissors and a long cord for this. First you should determine the desired length of the cord and cut it to size with the scissors. Then try to attach a pinecone to the string with the floral wire by looping it tightly around the string. Proceed in the same way with the rest of the cones, and finally glue the green to each cone with the hot glue gun. The garland is already ready! You can see what this looks like in the photos above. If you wish, you can also embellish the girlange with decorative ribbon or bows.
Handicrafts with natural materials Christmas: turn pine cones into small Christmas trees
You can also make beautiful little Christmas trees from pine cones. These look just fantastic and are the perfect decoration for your coffee table or the mantelpiece. For this purpose, it is better to choose larger cones that can stand upright. With acrylic paints you can easily color them white, green, red or gold and then decorate them with sequins, glitter powder, embroidery beads, etc. And to attach the small decorations, we recommend that you brush the inside of the open scales of the cone with a little glue. You can use the pictures above to get some ideas for decorating the pine cones.
Handicrafts with natural materials Christmas: table decorations
It is also very easy to make table decorations for Christmas from natural materials. The idea we are presenting to you is for pretty mini wreaths. For this you need:
- Fir branches
- Straw or willow twigs as the basis for the wreath (from the craft store)
- Gift tags
- green ribbon or jute thread
First, you should make a small wreath out of the straw or willow branches – about 10 cm in diameter. Then place the fir branches on the wreath so that it is completely covered and secure each one with jute twine or ribbon. So that the yarn cannot be seen, you should cut off the protruding part and tuck it under the additional fir green that is wrapped around it. Finally, you can attach a gift tag to the wreath to make it even more beautiful. Make a small wreath for each of your guests. You can place the wreaths directly on the Christmas napkins on the plates.
Make a wreath for the front door
You can make a larger Christmas wreath for the front door in the same way. Take a long walk in the park or through the forest to collect materials: branches, acorns and other nuts, snow or winter berries, pine cones and twigs, moss. Of course, you can also buy all of these from the hobby store.
Original Christmas tree balls with nuts
Our last idea is for original Christmas tree balls with nuts. You can use styrofoam balls from the hobby shop as a basis and attach hazelnuts (with the shell), acorns, chestnuts, etc. to them with the hot glue gun. You should cover the whole ball with nuts, also leaving space for a trailer.
